GARBAGE PIN PROJECT
The project was conceived by Ana Cardim, a Portuguese artist and curator that lives
in Barcelona.

Ana Cardim is an artist recognized internationally in the context of the Contemporary
Jewellery who develops a work with transdisciplinary character introducing, through
her last works, the concept of he “ jewel device ” as a way of social intervention in the
urbane context. As theoretician and curator she works on the subject of the possible
transversal platforms between the concepts of “ Current Art ” and “ Contemporary
Jewellery”.

Garbage Pin Project started with a common proposal launched by Ana Cardim to 90
artists at international level: Portugal, Spain, Italy, United Kingdom, Sweden,
Germany, Belgium, Luxemburg, Austria, Yugoslavia, Rumania, Libya, Argentina,
Chile, Colombia, Singapore, E.U.A and Japan.
The majority of artists belong to the environment of Contemporary Jewellery joined
by artists from many other areas of work: Painting, Sculpture, Illustration,
Photography, Performance, Installation, Video, Design, Fashion, Cinema, Theatre,
Music and Literature.

THE PROPOSAL consisted in suggesting to them to use the jewel Garbage Pin
during five days and to select, create or recreate, the contents kept in five plastic
bags according to the perspective and reflections generated from the project:
'WORTH VS WASTE' IN THE CURRENT URBAN SOCIETY.
The result is an INSTALLATION of 440 GARBAGE BAGS (4x6cm).
EXHIBITIONS
The installation will be shown internationally in an ITINERANT EXHIBITION during
2009-2010 in several art galleries and/or museums of contemporary art.
